Overview

TimeTrail ("the app", "we") is a personal productivity app for managing your tasks, notes, journal entries, and expenses. TimeTrail is built around a simple principle: your data is yours. The app stores your data on your device and, if you choose to enable backup, in your own Google Drive — never on servers we operate. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

What data the app handles

• Content you create: tasks, notes, journal entries, expense records, tags, and related settings. This is stored locally on your device in an on-device database.
• Google account data, only if you connect Google Drive backup (optional):
  • Google Drive (application data folder only): see below.

We do not collect your name, contacts, calendar, location, photos, or browsing activity. The app does not include third-party advertising SDKs.

How we use Google user data

Google Drive — drive.appdata scope

If you enable backup/sync, TimeTrail stores your app data in the application data folder ("AppData") of your own Google Drive. This is a private, app-specific folder:

• It is only accessible to TimeTrail. The app cannot see, read, or modify any of your other Google Drive files, photos, or documents — drive.appdata grants access solely to the app's own hidden folder.
• Your data is encrypted on your device before it is uploaded, using a key derived from a passphrase you choose. We never have access to your passphrase or your unencrypted data.
• This data exists only to sync your TimeTrail content across your own devices and to let you restore it after reinstalling. It is never transmitted to or stored on any server operated by us or a third party other than Google Drive (acting on your behalf, in your account).

Google Drive AppData is the only Google user data TimeTrail accesses. The app requests no other Google scopes.

Limited Use disclosure

TimeTrail's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer or use Google user data for serving advertisements, and we do not allow humans to read this data unless we have your consent for specific support purposes, it is necessary for security, or it is required by law.

Analytics & crash reporting

TimeTrail uses Sentry and PostHog to understand app stability and aggregate usage (e.g. how many people use the app each day) so we can fix crashes and improve the product. These tools collect technical data such as crash reports, device/OS type, and anonymous app-usage events. They do not receive your notes, journal, tasks, expenses, amounts, tags, or any content you create. We do not use this data for advertising and do not sell it. Analytics run only in released builds.

Data storage and retention

• Your content lives on your device and, if backup is enabled, in your own Google Drive AppData (encrypted). We do not operate a server that stores your content.

Deleting your data

• You can delete all of your data from your device and from your Google Drive backup at any time using Settings → Delete all my data / Reset app inside TimeTrail.
• You can disconnect Google services at any time in Settings, which removes the app's stored access tokens on that device.
• You can also revoke TimeTrail's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Children's privacy

TimeTrail is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Change of ownership

If TimeTrail is ever sold or transferred to another owner, the app and this policy may transfer with it. Because of how TimeTrail is built, there is no user database to hand over: your content stays on your device and, if you enable backup, in your own Google Drive, encrypted with a passphrase we never receive. A new owner would gain no ability to read your existing data. If ownership changes, we will update this page and give notice in the app before any change to how your data is handled.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
